- 2 cups idli rice
- 1 cup urad dal (whole white urad dal)
- 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
- Water (as needed)
- Salt (to taste)
Optional (for extra softness)
- 2 tbsp poha (aval)
- A handful of cooked rice

- Water (very little, for grinding)
- Salt (to taste)

- 1 onion (finely chopped, optional)
- 2โ3 green chillies (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp black pepper (crushed)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Curry leaves (finely chopped)
- Ginger (1 tsp, finely chopped)
